Emotion In Concert

Last November 25 and 26, 2016 two concerts took place at the Girona Auditorium to present the new album of the Cobla and String Symphony Orchestra of Catalonia OBSTINATELY LLACH in commemoration ot the 50th Anniversary of Lluís Llach’s arrival on the musical scene in 1967.

It was a deeply moving concert, in which emotion, memory and good music came together in a magic triangle of excellence that moved many many people.

During the intermission I had the opportunity to say a few words of thanks to  the audience, words that I would like to share with all of you:

Good Evening, everyone...

Like every year, before the start of the 2nd part of the concert, I would like to express my gratitude to you for being here with us this evening...

Today we present “Obstinately LLACH”, which as you have heard during the first half of the concert, is a Cobla and String version of an anthology of Lluís Llach’s trajectory since his first appearance on the musical scene some 50 years ago.

This all began just about a year ago, on November 27 of 2015, during the concert presentation of the album "SCCC: THE VERY BEST", the seventh work of the Cobla and String Symphony Orchestra of Catalonia, when we had the very pleasant surprise of being accompanied by Lluís Llach, who was guest of honor of the then mayor of Girona and today’s President of the Government of Catalonia, the Most Honorable Mr. Carles Puigdemont i Casamajó.

At the end of the concert Lluís expressed to us his surprise and admiration for this unusual Catalan symphony orchestra, unique in the world, that combines the experience and knowledge of the masters of La Principal de la Bisbal with the strength, enthusiasm and drive of the talented young musicians of the Girona Youth Orchestra.

This same feeling expressed by Lluís Llach that Friday in autumn was the spark of inspiration for "Obstinately LLACH", the SCCC’s eighth album... a double album that has been made possible thanks to the incomparable artistic talent of our travel companions over all these years... friends who I would like to thank publicly for continuing to make this great project possible, beginning with the master musicians of La Principal de la Bisbal, Beth, Elena, Roger and Manu... as well as the professionals of the Orchestra of Cadaqués and Meritxell Maset, Eulàlia Tomàs and with very special affection the Technical Director and  the Conductor of the Cobla and String Symphonic Orchestra, Jaume Lleixà and Francesc Cassú... and of course all of you, the young members of the Girona Youth Orchestra, the true guarantee of our continuing musical future... many thanks for everything!

Thanks are also due to the Auditorium and the Town Hall of Girona for so many years of collaborative work... and also to all those friends who have helped to promote this project: the Girona Conservatory, the ASTRID-21 Foundation, CARITAS, the recording company GLOBAL and the newspaper La Vanguardia...

A very special word to my parents Narcís and Anna Maria who, even though they were unable to be here in person, are with us virtually from Besalú... thanks so much for everything!!!

And in closing I’d like to say that this exceptional project we present today is our small tribute to a great body of work and an impeccable career, unique in its time, which with its beauty, warmth, sensitivity and trascendence, has inspired so many... but above all "Obstinately LLACH" is meant to be our small token of gratitude and appreciation to the person, the musician, the poet, the master and patriot... who has so often shown us the way.

Ladies and Gentlemen... on behalf of the business family I am honored to represent, I hope you are enjoying the interpretive excellence of the SCCC as they perform the most important melodies of the singer-songwriter from Empordà that remind us once again, more than ever, of our deepest yearnings for freedom and progress.

Long live Catalonia!!!
