Liceu and Juan Diego Flórez... impressive!!

A few days ago I had the good luck to attend the performance of La Fille du Régimentby Gaetano Donizetti in the Gran Teatre del Liceu... I had never seen anything like it before in the Liceu!!

The opera began softly and then built up to the moment the tenor Juan Diego Flórez sang the aria «Ah! mes amis quel jour de fête» with 9 high C's...

The full Liceu applauded for many minutes until the Peruvian tenor sang an encore.

Operatic ecstasy in all its essence, but as well as Juan Diego Flórez also present was the Italian soprano Patrizia Ciofi, the Maria Callas of the 21st century... the second act of the opera was like a tennis game between Ciofi and Flórez ...every aria, every duet, every trio was applauded by the audience, something very unusual in the current operatic circuit.

I guess I had the good fortune to experience one of those unique and unrepeatable moments in the history of the Bel Canto...

Many thanks Liceu, many thanks Patrizia, many thanks Juan Diego... I will remember it for the rest of my days!!!!
